Food gathers the objects we consume without ever looking at them — a sausage, an ear of corn, a slice of bread — and holds each one still at a scale that makes consumption impossible. Rendered in polished metal, the most perishable subject in art becomes the most permanent object in the room. The joke is real, and so is the craft.
